Rodney & Bryce Kimmes Receive Outstanding Conservationist Award
Dakota County, MN – The Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District (DCSWCD) is proud to announce Rodney and Bryce Kimmes of Hastings, MN as their 2019 Outstanding Conservationist.
The DCSWCD Board selected the Kimmes’ as this year’s Outstanding Conservationist for their commitment to conservation. Over the past decade, they have worked with the DCSWCD and the Natural Resources Conservation Service to install grassed waterways and establish cover crops to protect and improve soil health. Their farming operation has also adopted irrigation water management practices to reduce groundwater use. In addition, they have volunteered their time and expertise to work with the University of Minnesota Extension to complete irrigation water management research and have represented the agricultural community by participating in the Dakota County Ground Water Technical Advisory Group.
Every year, the DCSWCD honors a landowner, business, or organization for their outstanding accomplishments with implementing conservation practices and improving Minnesota’s natural resources. The Kimmes’ were recognized at the DCSWCD Board meeting held on October 3rd and will be recognized at the Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts annual convention in December.
The SWCD commends Rodney and Bryce Kimmes for being leaders in conservation and supporting clean water practices.
