Clean Water Funds
Farmington, MN – September 25, 2020 – Twelve years ago, the citizens of Minnesota voted in favor of the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment to the constitution. This established a 3/8 of one percent sales tax increase that goes towards four funds: Outdoor Heritage Fund, Clean Water Fund, Parks and Trails Fund, and Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. At the Dakota County SWCD, Clean Water Funds (CWF) are vital to our operation and the services and projects we can provide for the citizens of Dakota County. We wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the great work that has been done in Dakota County with Clean Water Funds over the years.
These are just a few examples of the many projects that Dakota County SWCD staff have worked on using CWF grant dollars from various State agencies over the past twelve years. These grants have resulted in projects that reduce stormwater runoff in our urban areas and prevent soil loss in the rural parts of the county. You can go to our website at www.DakotaSWCD.org and check out our project database to see more projects implemented with CWF and the different partner organizations that we work with.
