Additional Information

Why use Tree Tubes?

  • Tree tubes are a barrier method of tree protection, that stops animal browse or harsh dry wind from damaging a seedling tree.
  • Tree tubes also provide a micro-climate that can help retain moisture on the seedling for a longer period of time during drought conditions.
  • Tree tubes are also sometimes referred to as “mini-greenhouses” translucent enough to allow sunlight, but also protect and nurture growth of small seedlings until the tree is large enough to grow on it’s own.
  • The younger tree or a direct seeding method help establish the tree faster because the young root system will be undisturbed, especially for species such as oak, chestnut, and walnut. The smaller the seedling at planting the faster they’ll get established and the bigger the impact tree tubes will have.

Why use Weed Mats?

  • Weed mats hold ground moisture longer.
  • Weeds are everywhere: on lawns, in flower gardens, among the tomato plants, wherever you don’t want them to be. Left uncontrolled, weeds can starve out young seedlings. They’re more aggressive, more prolific and they grow faster.
  • Weeds absorb water and nutrients, robbing your trees of crucial life-sustaining elements just when they need them most. Weeds can even outgrow your plants, thereby depriving them of much-needed sunlight.
  • If you fertilize without first removing weeds, you are fertilizing the weeds too.
