In 2022, the Dakota County Fair begins Monday, August 8th and runs through Sunday, August 14th. While you’re there, stop by the Natural Resources Building and check out the Dakota SWCD display! You’ll find information on the various urban and rural Dakota SWCD cost-share projects completed in Dakota County, information on our popular Landscaping for Clean Water and Tree Sale programs, and the opportunity to win a Native Flower ( 5 species) Pocket Garden!

Tuesday through Friday of the Fair, staff from the Dakota SWCD will narrate a 45 minute Native Prairie Trolley Tour leaving at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. You’ll ride on a tractor drawn trolley through the native prairie on the south side of the Fairgrounds. The Native Prairie Trolley Tour is FREE, but space is limited so don’t be late!  Find the trolley in front of the Ahlberg Hall Museum, near 2nd Street & Dakota Way.

In addition to the Dakota SWCD display in the Natural Resources Building, you’ll find information from Dakota County Water Resources, USDA’s Farm Service Agency and Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Minnesota DNR, and Trout Unlimited.
